    Hi there,

Anybody got any good advice on video cards that capture MJPEG but also work well in XP? I have a G400 TV right now and it's a great card, but it's not very XP friendly. Ideally I'd be willing to move up to something newer that's built to work in XP right from the get go, but I need to know it captures in MJPEG or it's useless to me. Can anybody help me out with some suggestions? No $1000 and up cards please.

  5. Why are you so keen to use MJPEG?

I use a G400 on win XP and capture using YUY2 + huffyuv codec with very good results.

The G400 on XP may be difficult to set up but it is still a very good card, so don't give up on it yet.

The reason I've given up on it in XP is because I can't get it to pull sound out of the sound card. If you plug any auxiliary audio INTO the sound card (SB Live), it works, but for some reason, the blue box doesn't want to pump audio down that huge cable into my sound card. It works in 9x, just not on XP. Friend of mine has the exact same problem. That and I can't get any sound off cable channels either.

Is it possible to use YUY2 / HuffyUV codec based capturing on cards other than G400? I'm capturing using HuffyUV right now. I thought you had to have an MJPEG card in order to do this, am I wrong? I'm a total newbie of course.

  8. You don't need a MJPEG card. You can do it using a software MJPEG codec. With the speeds of processors now a software solution is probably cheaper and more flexible.

So what's a good XP reliable card that I could capture with using the HuffyUV codec? I'm getting really tired of segmenting AVIs in FAT32 on my 9x box.
