Hi
I use WDM drivers supplied by Avermedia. My card is the AverTV studio.
Are there universal WDM drivers which may work better or am I better off sticking with these?

Have you looked at the WDM driver from
http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/
Supported cards on page
http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/supportedcards.html

Can't relly comment - ive tried to use them with my WinTV Go PCI card and couldn't get them to work.
Tried half a dozen times then gave up.
Maybe i'll try again when i've got the patience.
Til then i'm using the latest WinTV drivers from Hauppauge for Windows 2000.
My WinTV card is in the list of supported cards so the theory is it should work...

I'm using the btwincap drivers with my Terratec TerraTV Value card. Original drivers didn't let me capture at any resolution I wanted to, this driver does. The TV software that came with the card doesn't work anymore, but I couldn't care less. I use Virtual Dub Synch for capturing and DScaler for viewing TV.

Same here. btwincap drivers work like a charm and no capture restrictions. I don't use the standard utility so I could care less if it stopped working.

@Fozee - I have a Pinnacle PCTV and the btwincap drivers didn't work so well for me. Some of the default color settings looked awful and iuvcr wouldn't do anything. I installed Pinnacle's 5.01 WDM drivers and used VirtualVCR (another WDM cap program that kicks the shit out of IUVCR IMO). I would say go with Avermedia WDM drivers and try VirtualVCR-works like a charm for me...except for some other issues soon to be posted

Hi
I tried them and yes they caused picture problems (saturation etc).
Returned to Avermedia drivers and PowerVCR2 all is sweet

The ONLY reason to use generic drivers is if you can't capture at the resolution you want, or you have some problems with the original drivers. If the orignal drivers work, then use them. You will gain nothing by using generic drivers.

I have AverMedia TV/FM98 and the drivers from
http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/
worked for me.
Initially I was having problems (no sound) because the install program was not able to identify my card properly, but after few tries I found a right setting and now it works very wekk. -
I have in the last couple of days disabled then uninstalled my WinTV drivers - the Hauppgauge website's latest version for Windows 2000.
Now my Satndby and Hibernate power options work perfectly.
I'm going to give the SourceForge WDM drivers another go - if i get them working then they're supposed to be ACPI compliant so my Standby and Hibernate will still work.
If i have to revert to Hauppgauge's drivers then it's no Standby or Hibernate as the drivers aren't perfect - no Microsoft certificate of compatibility.
