  1. I had a few .avi and .mov files that i wanted to convert to mpeg..so i used tmpenc to convert them to .mpg...then as a precautionary method..i used vcdhelper to convert from mpeg->mpeg (with fix errors checked).. since sometimes mpegs have errors..anyways..now the one .mpg has become the .mpg and a .rsrc file.... and when i try to play the .mpg i get "format not supported" and "illegal mpeg stream".i'm very confused... i'm also pissed since i deleted my original .mpg's....any idea's on how to recover my videos?

If you used a recent version of TMPG, VCDGear (I presume you mean!) should not be necessary. Certain versions of VCDGear can cause more problems than they solve IMO. If you want to be extra cautious, then run the mpeg through TMPG's mpeg tools multiplex option, with the type set to mpeg-1(VCD) or mpeg-2(SVCD), whichever it is.
Then burn with Nero using VCD or SVCD template.

If it's too late for this, then extract the .dat file (VCD) and rename to .mpg. (If SVCD then copy .mpg file to HD.) In both cases, run the .mpg through TMPG's simple multiplex, as before, and burn with Nero.

  7. Get a Mac.

Just kidding, can you do another mpeg->mpeg with vcdgear, and uncheck the box?

Can you load the mpeg into mpeg tools of tmpgenc, do a simple demultiplex, and then a simple multiplex.

If you can't do that, I'd look for a command prompt utility called bbdmux comes in a suite called bbtools. Never met an mpeg stream I couldn't demux with that program.
