    Hi,
I have DVD quality capture file.
With TMPGenc I had to install MPEG2 plug-in to read the file in first place.
This allowed me to open the file (just the video).
If I give the same file to audio field it complaints.

    What to do ?
Because using above I am able to convert to SVCD to play in my dvd player with very good picture :P except NO sound

    thanks,
    Robert

    Robert,

I know this is of no help to you but I am in the same boat.

I have perfect video but no sound.

If I open the video file it's fine but when I open the audio file (which is the same file) I get a message saying the .avi file can not be open, or unsupported.

For me this has only just started happening. I was able to open the audio file but after encoding there was no sound present on the VCD.

Could this be something to do with copy protection?

I have tried virtualdub for the audio track but that cannot do it either.

Playback on the PC for any of these avi's is perfect!

If I find anything out I will let you know.

    Stuart,
    That's what I see.
I have perfect video if I play on my PC (original capture).
I don't think it's copy protection because I captured my Hi8 home video.

    Robert,

I have been playing around and got the audio encoding working again.

I have DivX502Bundle and Nimo Codec Bundle installed.

I removed both of these through add/remove programs and restarted the PC.

I installed the Nimo software again and installed all audio portions from the list it gives you. I then put DivX back in. I got an error when doing this but it still installed.

After restarting the PC I can encode both audio and video from the same file.

This has not fixed the audio muting on some conversions but that is another thing to work out.

    Hope this helps.

    Robert,

I have sorted the no audio problem.

Open TMPGEnc and click 'Option', 'Environmental Settings'
    Click the 'VFAPI Plug-in' tab.
Right mouse click on 'DirectShow Multimedia File Reader' and
    select 'Higher Priority'.
Do this several times until it is at 4.

    Try your conversion again.

This worked for me and all audio is now present.

    Hooray.

    Stuart,
I tried the suggestion but no luck.
The only other thing I saw on this board was to extract wav file from the original capture using virtual dub...
I just don't understand why TMPGenc can't do the same.

    Hi,
    Anyone with suggestions ?
The MPEG2 file that Xtasy everything card generates can't be loaded in Vdub to extract WAV file.
Due to above problem I can load only the video part no audio.

    Thanks,
    Robert

I found a solution by reading around. (not a good solution but for now it will work).

vdub can't handle MPEG2 files. I believe TMPGenc can read MPEG2 file for video but not for sound.

So my solution was to use VCDNTSC profile in winDVR that came with Xtasy card.
Now I can feed the resulting MPEG file to TMPGenc and it shows both video and audio.

I wish though I could do it all using MPEG2 since I can capture that quality.
