I read that it has to do with most SVCDs being encoded with VBR - this causes problems when trying to FF / RW (or time search) - Not positive, though; maybe I'll burn a CBR SVCD and see how it works.
Any experts (I'm not!) out there have an answer? You can't fool me, I'm a moron! -
Here is some info that might help - something to try, at least :
Good morning.
In my experience the FF/RW problem is down to a combination of -
no svcd scanoffsets - use bbmpeg.
PBC and scandata problems - this (amongst other things) is why i use vcdimager CLASSIC.
It creates a dummy PBC that not only allows FFRW, it also allows my TIME SEARCH option on my standalone to work; whereas the PBC on ALL vcdimagers since turn off the time search.
CLASSIC also allows mpeg greater the 99:59 mins, but you can only play past 100mins, not search. But this is a limitaion of SVCD spec.
try to cut and paste the file scandata.dat in the directory ext. you can get this file at the following adress: http://www.vcdhelp.com/scandata.dat just rightclick mouse-> save as

I encoded all my SVCDs using VBR and I can do time search in my standalone DVD player although the time is not correct. The DVD player always show the total time is 40 min no matter what the real length is. I always multiplex video and audio in bbmpg with SVCD scan offset.
