  1. I burned a copy of blade 2 in bin/cue format using nero. When I play it in my standalone dvd player (SONY DVP-NS715P), it freezes at about the 35 minute mark. So I took it out and played it in my pc and plays perfect all the way to the end.

I then did some testing. I've found out that the disks that were freezing in my sony had chapter stops that were incorporated in the cue file. I've burned some without chapter stops (different movies) from bin/cue and straight from mpeg and they play fine all the way through, even ones up to 60 minutes. So I think my problem lies somewhere in the chapter indexes. Same thing happens on each disk I try, except that the freezing occurs at different times but always towards the end of the disk.

My question is this: How can I get rid of chapter stops from bin/cue files?

Is it as easy as deleting the index lines in the cue file itself or would I have to extract the mpeg? And if I do extract it, wouldn't that make my mpeg too large to fit on svcd since my bin is over 800MB?

Also, I'm going to try to burn using cdrwin and see if that helps. Does anyone have any other suggestions??

  2. Well, I got it to work.
I just opened up the cue file in notepad and deleted all of the indexes besides the first one. Then I burned the image as normal in nero and tried it. It plays past the point where it froze on my other disk and the svcd still has chapter stops. I thought that since I deleted them, they wouldn't be there.

Oh well, It worked and I still get the bonus of chapters so I'm a happy camper.

  3. Deleting the subindices generally will not affect how the entrypoints work. The "chaptering" info is in the PBC.

Furthermore, subindicies shouldn't affect how your disc is or isn't read on a drive. There was probably something else affecting your disc (but it could still be read on your PC) and it was the reburning onto another disc that fixed it.

  4. Another way to get rid of the chapters would be to use VCDEasy to extract the .mpg out of the .bin. Then you can use VCDEasy to remake a .bin from that .mpg, but don't add any chapters.

For some reason it does. I've tried 4 different discs made from 4 different bins and they all freeze when they have subindicies and play fine without them. I find it hard to believe that reburning all 4 had anything to do with it especially since coming from same type of media.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've already done this and works great; however, by just deleting the subindices, I still get the chapter info and no freezing occurs.

  6. Cool, great.

I'll remember that your particular player has issues with subindices.
