I have 6 AVI files and I must encode them into a only MPEG2 file (to burn onto a SVCD).
I tried every way: I encoded all 6 files individually and rejoin the MPGs but in this way the final file have 5 small gaps.
Does anybody know how to convert these AVIs into a MPEG2?
They were created using SEGMENTATION in VIRTUAL DUB, and using this program, the 6 files are treated like a only file.
thanks

I've never tried, but if I did, I'd load the first AVI in VirtualDub, then "Append AVI Segment..." the rest.
Finally frameserve the lot to your favourite encoder.

For this kind of job I use TMPGenc (I use it always with my Pinnacle DC10+ card, since I have 4GB partitions it limits me to 20 minutes best quality capture). I generate more than one mpeg files using TMPGenc. Then using MPEG Tools menu option I merge all these mpegs into one single one. So far I have not seen any gaps. I'm using KVCDs template 702x480 resolution and in MPEGTools dialog I select nonstandard VCD option from drop down list.

Crystal Symo,
Go to, www.ulead.com, download the trial version of VideoStudio 6.0.Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. -
VirtualDub handles this job flawlessly, with no gaps. Just did the same thing last night. Joined 3 large AVI files, cut out commercials, etc. and frameserved to TMPG.Originally Posted by Crystal Symo
Mats.hogberg is correct. Append each AVI in the sequence they should be played in. Open the first. The hit FILE---> Append AVI----> select the next file and so on until you have them all.
As for VideoStudio 6, I have never used it to join AVIs. Mainly because I dont think VideoStudio has frameserve ability. You have to encode to MPEG with VideoStudio. cannot vouch for the quality of its encoder either. -
Thanks for the suggestions.
I have already tried to framserve, but something is wrong. I tried both WinME and XP, but the result is the some: the VDR file is not opened from TMPGENC or CCE 2.5
I open the 6 segments in the right sequence, then I go to "Start frame server" and I press OK (wihtout modifying the small window), then I save the VDR file. In the frameserver window is displayed "Frameclients installed: none", what does it mean? After that i leave VDUB active and I open TMPGENC (or CCE) and I open the vdr file, but "File can not open or not supported" ... why???
Does anybody know if is my job ok? -
Did you install the handler ???
