  1. Hi Everyone!

I want to buy a capture card to capture into divx from s-video.

The cards I'm considering are the AVER TV TUNER PVR ($50), the Leadtek TV2000 XP ($64), or the MSI TV @NYWHERE 8876 ($60). The thing I found interesting about the MSI one is it says it has hardware mpg 4 encoding. Does that mean I can record divxs in real time?

I will be recording the sound from my sound card, and would like to have the option of using Virtual Dub. Which of these would you reccomend (or any other in the price range)?

Also, I want to ensure there are no compatibility problems with my computer. I just had a horrible experience with an ATI 8500DV due to problems with my mobo chipset (dont tell me to get a TV Wonder)

    System Specs:
    WinXP, 1.2 ghz T-Bird, Iwill KA266 (Alimagik1), 512mb, GF2 Pro, 40+80 gig HDs

I had the Leadtek card for about two weeks, the tuner side of it really sux, the software that comes with it is pretty nice but there is a lack of some features, the radio side of it worked great ( including recodring into MP3 ), the video IN using SVideo or RCA did give me a pretty good quality of picture.
I returned it because I got the Visiontek Ti 4600 GeForce4 card which has VIVO.

Aver card I have read on many sites of many problems so I stayed away from it.

Leadtek card is good, I would recommend it as long as you are not going to expect ALOT from it.

Aver cards have problems??? That's an off the cuff remark isn't it??
I have an AverTV Studio card and its pukka used with good software. It seems to me a lot of the time people are using the software that comes with their cards which isn't up to scratch.
Switch to PowerVCR2 or WinDVR2 and I'll bet you notice a difference on all Mpeg2 capture cards.
