  1. Synopsis:

Mpeg-1 file, non standard size - wanted to do a resize to NTSC format. Mpeg running time: ~85 minutes

Original Mpeg had a bitrate of about 850 kpbs(yes, it was lower than normal)

I decided for the sake of space to make a 985 kbps and fit it on one CD, which the XVCD calculator said was kosher for a file that size

Encoder: Tmpenc 12i, 128 bit audio, 985 kbps

Resulting mpg - over 950 megs. CRAZY!

    Even Crazier:

I cut the mpeg in 2, thinking i would need to use 2 cds - SURPRIZE - the 2 parts were under 800 megs combined!

Where the hell did the 150 megs go? I was even able to burn the 2 mpegs onto a vcd with 2 tracks, but there is annyoing pause in the middle where the cut is when the DVD player skips tracks.

How can i resolve this? Pweeeze help!

  2. Man how long did the encoding of it take?
    Mine took 72 hours www.vcdhelp.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?topic=54826&forum=3&0Obviously i didn't wait...

But my move of 247MB is in
    *.asf format and
2 hour total length... Maybe, i should cut the movie too...

    My guess is "padding."

padding or the last frame being encoded tens of thousands of times. it happened to me once, as well as some other posters here. re-multiplexing (which is what happened when you cut it) seemed to remove the extra frames, reducing the files size dramatically...
