  1. Anyone using the IBM DVD-RAM/R drive model 22P6959? I was wondering what type of success you are having and which media is working. I seem to have the best results with Pioneer DVS-R470SDF but would like to use some cheaper media. I have tried others with marginal results. Mostly the discs can not be recognized by the players or they say the disc is bad or dirty.

Is that just a rebadged Panasonic LF-D311?

The Panasonic seems to dislike poor media because, well, they're poor. However, a lot of the upper low end media works fine. It's just the bargain basement stuff that is spit out by the drive.

Or perhaps your IBM is faulty.

  3. Yes, I think it is the LF-D311. The media does not get spit out, it just doesn't work in the video players. The only media that works every time is from Pioneer.
