look i have a samsung n-501 and a proscan vhs vcr. I think the company is call proscan but in the back there's a sticker that says Thompson Electronics.
Anyway features on my vcr includes:
~~~VCR+
~~~Commercial marking (let's you skip through recorded commercials)
and the vcr is $189 and completely ignores macrovision

Yes there are some vcr's that bypass macrovision, either intentionally or unintentionally. Most older vcrs do not support macrovision.

I had an old Funai, that allowed me to copy guarded tapes, however, I found the guard also got copied, so my copy was effectively guarded...
