This is strange..ok.. here goes.. I have a AMD XP 1.6 256 Meg Ram with a Diamond MX400 sound card with XP drivers I have a DVD player (in computer) and CDROM with 2 HDD . Now when I play a mpg file or a VCD the sound and picture are excellent BUT if I play a DVD the sound and picture are great and then the sound drops out and then the picture goes really jerky.. eg.. I played "The Specialist" and about 2 mints into the movie there is a big explosion and at that point the sound dropped out.. now you can shut down PowerDVD s/ware and try and play any computer sound and there is nothing no sound at all... after rebooting all is back to normal (sound on start up ect).. At times the dvd will play for about 10 seconds and then drop out.... now here is where it gets difficult... I bought a Pinnancle DV studio and it works great but when I capture from my DV camcorder in DVD quality and try and play it back the same thing happens but if I capture using VCD quality it works perfectly.... so any ideas ??
This MX400 card I have came out about the same time as the Creative Live card and they were pretty close to being the same quality so I picked the MX400 on price.. this card has been great for years until now...

Thanks
Dave
