I have a VCD of Tomb Raider where the video and audio starts getting choppy after about 15-30 minutes of play. The video and audio are still in sync but it starts to skip. The funny thing is the same file works well in Windows Media player on my PC.
I tried VCDGear with the -fix option and this seemed to alleviate the problem (i.e. shorter skips) but it did not eliminate the problem. I have burned and used many VCD's on my DVD player and this is the first time that I have this problem. I have a Panasonic RV-31K DVD player and I use Nero 5.5 to burn the VCD's. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What is the point of downloading movies off the internet that just give people trouble when opening/converting/burning/playing? All the time you spend here having us tell you everything under the sun but "Don't download crap off the internet" you could have just gone down the road to your local cinema and watched the damn thing. Twice.

Thanks for absolutely zero help and the "great" attitude. You have no idea how much time I spend nor what my reasons are. Besides, why should it matter to you anyway? If you want to help, then do so. Otherwise, don't waste my time! -
What's the bitrate of the VCD? It's not uncommon that PC's can handle higher bitrates. Maybe you can convert it using the same setting as previous VCD's that play properly. It may affect the quality.

I have a friend who also converted that same movie to VCD. It is something in the MPEG. She said it played fast for the first approx. minute then played fine. I can't tell you for sure but you could possibly try de-multiplexing the video w/ TMPGenc and then Re-encoding the video w/ it. Just a guess. Good luck and if you fix the problem let me know. Later.

in a very general sense, try loading the mpeg in VDub and frameserving to TMPGEnc to re-encode into an mpeg that works best for your standalone player, VBR vs CBR, low-rez vs hi-rez, low-bitrate vs hi-bitrate, etc. now if the mpeg will not load completely into VDub, you may have to download it again.
AntnyMD does have a point. i do see A LOT of posts from members having problems with movies they've downloaded from the 'net...
