  1. I received a disc from a friend which had the following folders on it:
Cdi, Karaoke, Mpegav, Segment, and Vcd

I put it into my DVD player (Apex AD-1500), the menu came up and I finally found the Music01 to play and played it. It had no sound and it was very 'pixelated'.

So, I copied the Music01.dat file to my Mac, converted it to mpeg using VCDGear and then used Toast Titanium to burn a VCD (at 2x speed).

I put that into my DVD player, hit play and it worked fine (for 11 minutes until the audio started skipping, but that's another thread).

Anyway, I looked at this disc on my computer and it only had three folders: Cdi, Mpegav, and Vcd

So my question is, what was it that I originally received (the CD with five folders)? I can't seem to find anywhere on this site where it talks about what folders are present on a disc for any of the formats (VCD, SVCD, VDVR, etc).

Yep, when I burned my own CD, Toast named the file avseq01 instead of music01.

Is there some reason why my DVD player would play one but not the other? And is one 'format' more 'liked' by DVD players than the other?
