HI All,
I hope you can help me out.
I have created an SVCD using TMPGenc. I selected VBR (min 0 average 1144 and max 2496) for a 79min 8 sec AVI. (DIVX but inputted sound as a WAV file). This gave me a 786 Mb MPEG2 file.
I have written this to a CDRW at 4x and there are a number of glitches
in the movie. First one is at 00:27, Second at 06:02, Third at 15:41.
Basically the movie seems to freeze for about 1/2 a second at these points then continues playing normally. I am playing it back on a standalone DVD player LG model DM4921P.
I wrote the CDRW using Nero 5.5.7.8.
I then recreated the CD using nero and buring at 1x. NO major difference except one of the glitches disappeared.
OK thought I would check the bitrate using Bitrate viewer. The minimum bitrate for the sequences where the glitches occurs is around 631 for the first glitch and around 1321 for the second glitch.
I then used VCDeasy to create a .bin file and burned using CDRDAO. The glitches now appear in different spots.
I'm now at a loss. Your help would be appreciated as I'm tearing my hear out over this one.
Regards,

Extra piece of information. I have now burnt this using VCDIMAGER at
1x onto a CDR. Get a glitch (ie: momentary freeze) for the first time about 06:00 minutes into the movie. When I rewind and replay, the freeze no doesn't occur in exactly the same spot. It may re-occur within 20 to 30 seconds of where it happened the first time. -
I also have several glitches in Blade 2 I copied using TMPG. I have version 5.5.5.6v. Unfortunately I can only write in 8x with this version of Nero I'm hoping to rectify that problem with another version of Nero. I attributed my glitches to the 8x I was forced to write in. I'm going to try using CCE. First time around I could not get cce to work.. hopefully it will now.

PJB: I have heard alot on the forum about not using cdrw, but to use cdr. try using a cdr see if the glitches stop. Cheers

Hi IMA2HD,
CDR doesn't make any difference. BTW I have seen a lot of posts which
say you should burn at 1x or 2x so I suggest you try that.
I am playing with the VBV size at the moment. I am going to use 224Kb and see whether this makes a difference. By default TMPGENC uses 112Kb. You can have a look at this post --> http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=95004
which talks about VBV size. -
For information, I eventually gave up on the DVD player and returned it to the shop. It was an LG 4921P and I swapped it for a Pioneer DV-355.
The SVCD's played perfectly in the Pioneer first time.
Things I tried:
- Re-multiplex using both TMPGEnc and VCDEasy
- Increase VBV size to 224 K
- Increase minimum bitrate from 0. Can't remember how high I set the minimum.
Nothing worked. I have come to the conclusion that the player only likes SVCD's encoded with CBR.
Also FYI it will NOT play XVCD's. I tried CBR 2000 and CBR 1500 with normal VCD resolution with no success.
