  1. When i create a SVCD the picture quality on my stand-alone dvd player is fine but in scenes that contain darker area's they appear blocky and colourful and the motion seems to trail in these spots.

Bright scenes (ie: daylight picture) appears fine if not perfect.
I am encoding with the best possible quality i can get from the divx5 pro codec im not too worried about filesize etc.

I would appreciate some feedback, THNX.

  2. How about 3 pass VBR in CCE, ppl claim to get a better result from that. I've never tired it myself but I'm gonna, for sure.

TMPEG does not do as well with dark areas as CCE with default settings...its default luminescence range is different...anyways, try CCE...

as for ya_jai's suggestion about a 3 pass VBR in CCE...I can only agree...that is what I am using at this very moment...

****edit: I did not see that your source was divx 5 the first time I read your post...I cannot now say that CCE will fix your dark area blocks...divx is lossy and you might have to toss some serious bitrate at the scene (in mpg terms) to get it look like the divx
    End of Line.
