I was just wondering if anyone knew how to make a "backup copy" of Grand Theft Auto 3 for PC. I have done this successfully with another one of my PC games, but for some reason it won't work with GTA3. I got the install disc to write right, but can't get the actual game to work... It comes up with an error. Is it even possible?
Thanks

What burning software????
Try posting some computer specs for the future, You probably get more help if we don't have to ask.
Nero or Cdrwin should do the trick. -
If those don't work use blind read/write. (my last ditch effort software.)

Wrong forum but why not? if you ask we'll have an answer.
I believe GTA3 CD has a copy protection but I'm not sure what type, it might be safedisc 2.5 or something. So the easiest way you'll need CloneCD (copy software) and Clony XXL (scanning) to do the job for you. Now not only that you have to make sure that your writer can handle copy protection. Some writer can handle only safedisc 1 (very old) and some can with safedisc 2. need more info you can check at http://www.cdrinfo.com or http://club.cdfreaks.com/
Hope you can backup working game! -
I know what you need to do. You need to make a 1:1 copy of the install disk, and make an image of the play disk. Then download, install, and run Daemon Tools in the tools section of this website. Then right click on it in the tool bar by the clock, go to virtual cd/dvd rom, go to device 0, mount image and select the image you made of the play disk. Then right click on it again and go to emulation, and then select the protection that gta 3 has on it. (check megagames.com to figure out). Then Play it

Yeah, I figured this was probably the wrong forum. But I wasn't for sure exactly where to go...maybe I overlooked it. Sorry about that.
Anyways, all that seems far to advanced for me. I'll just forget about the whole thing. Was just trying to help a friend in need, if you know what I mean.
Thanks all for the help. -
Most people do a simple file copy, then go get a fix from www.gamecopyworld.com
