  1. How does everybody deal with the unavailable source aspect ratio settings in CCE? How is it done in dvd2svcd?
    My experience is so far:
    letterbox goes in, 16:9 comes out; or
    16:9 goes in, 4:3 comes out...

    Thanks

  2. Since CCE doesn't manipulate the video like tsunami mpeg does (center, fit-to-vertical, etc) it doesn't need a source setting. It just encodes the video as is. You set the output aspect ratio to be used by your player, that's it.

    The VCD and SVCD spec is only designed for 4:3 play back, so if your source is 16:9 then you have to resize and add borders outside of CCE with something like VirtualDub.

  3. Thanks, Darkbird.

    I was looking into the program elements of dvd2svcd and trying to figure out the point that makes sure that those borders are added to the source video. Could not find it...

    DVD2SVCD uses Avisynth instead of Virtual dub to resize and add borders.

  5. Thank you all.
    I managed the TMPGEnc-->VFAPI route.
    I think that will be the way to go...

    If the source aspect ratio is 16:9, then resize the image to 480x360 and add the letterbox border to bring it up to 480x480.

    If the source aspect ratio is 4:3, then just resize to 480x480.
