can you rip dvd directly to mpeg - not avi?

Hi there, you could try using DVDx 2.0 , this will rip to MPeg for VCD/SVCD for you.

You have two choise.
First, rip vob files to your harddrive first, you choose have around 7-8 GB free space. Follow Guide 1 & 2 Sefy's Guide.

If you don't have free space then follow Guide#3 or you can use DVD2SVCD(I'm not use never do this way) which will rip directly for your DVD-rom to mpeg1/mpeg2.

Most people like "SmartRipper" to rip the DVD
