  1. Had previous help in fixing a damaged AVI file, was advised about VirtualDub, tried it out and played about with it for many hours today but can't find out how you print out the error log to show at which frames have errors, everytime I "scan video stream for errors" I get an error message at the end of it
Internal Error MMX state left on: T:\projects\VirtualDub_old\main\VideoSource.cpp:11 01,
which the offical website says is just a misleading error???
Have tried going through manually and editing the damaged frames but just when I think its working and its half way through processing, I get another error message, "OutputAVI parameter incorrect" sheeesh!
Again any help on this would be much appreciated.

Yep I seen your post but was waiting for the other person to reply

The Vdub you are using has a problem sometimes when scanning... Normally all you need to do is this.

Video > scan video stream for errors

    Video > direct stream copy
    Audio > direct stream copy
    SAVE AVI

This saves out another copy without the bad frames !!, you don't need to delete anything !!

However as I said the "MMX left on" is a known problem, so you need to download another version of Vdub called "vdub-mp3-freeze.exe" from here

    http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/virtualdub.html

Now this version makes a log of the bad frames at c:\badframes.log

Video > Check video for freezes

Now load the log, it may have several blocks, so you need to delete the highest block numbers first (At keyframes)

    12345
    12346
    12347
    3345667
    3345668
    3345669 (Highest block of numbers)

Open Log and highlight the highest number (3345669) (Control C=COPY)switch to Vdub and select GO TO (Control V=Paste) 3345669

Now click the yellow keyframe forward once, then mark this as end

Back to the log highlight lowest number of that block (COPY)(3345667) switch back to Vdub and select GO TO (Paste) 3345667

Now click the yellow keyframe back once, then mark this as start

Press the delete key to remove those bad frames 3345667 to 3345669

Now do the same to the next highest block ( 12345 to 12347)

    Video > direct stream copy
    Audio > direct stream copy
    SAVE AVI

Will save out a new copy without the bad frames...
