I am about to buy a new dvd player. Can anyone suggest one that plays vcd's and svcd's. I live in Britain, dunno if that will make a difference though, some models might not be available here.

so far my sony dvp-ns715p will play it all. cost me 200 bux but its got progressive scanning which makes my digital picture just awesome. it plays: vcds,svcds,dvd-r, cd-rw,cd-r,dvd-rw,
im a sony nut though so im biased but i love it! -
LostProphet,
I just brought a Apex 1100WB from Asda (Wallmart) for a measly 68 english pounds.
Plays:
Discs: dvd, dvd-r, dvd-rw, cd-r, cd-rw
Formats: dvd (really?!), (x)vcd, (x)svcd, mp3 cd, jpgs on standard data cd, kodak photo cds.
However, i have found it to be a little odd with some of my cd-rs;
It wont play some 2 yr old 74min Samsung cd-rs
or new 80min Intenso cd-rs when burn as VCD, but will as SVCD.
Works PERFECTLY fine with the cheapo crappy get your finger prints all over them silver surface cd-rs though!
The US version (1100W) is ranked about number 7 on this site (if you sort by user rated). However, www.apexmodchip.com doesnt have a modchip for the 1100WB yet... although I contacted them and the guy said he was looking into it.
I recommend (depending how rich you are of course).
