Nero buffer pulsing up and down! HELP

I have a plextor PX-W4012A RW drive with 4mb buffer, firmware rev. 1.02 installed Windows XP.
Nero version 5.5.8.0 OEM

Lately Nero has not been working well - when I burn at any speed from my HD the buffer pulses continuously. After the burn completes it says I avoided many buffer underrun events. My last burn I had a message saying 150 buffer underruns were avoided! This started happening with nero all of the sudden, it used to burn smooth as silk with the buffer full at 100% until completion. Somethings not right. VCD easy is smooth - never an issue and my aspi layer is installed just fine.

a LOT of the time i burn stuff with nero.. it says something about some buffer overrun.. which ends up stopping the burning.. and wastes my time and cd.. since i burn at 4x (max burn speed on my sony burner =P)

how come this is happening.. it screwed up like 3 cds in a row for me like last week..

What applications are you running in the background? Unless you have a SCSI burner, you need to shut down all background apps that might access the HD while burning.

If you don't have any apps running, then I would do a reboot of the pc and run Scandisk and Defrag in that order. You also might want to clear out your TEMP folder before the Defrag.

If that does not work, then un-install Nero and re-install it. Remember to reboot before installing it again.

I still have the problem after re- install, also 2 nero burning roms now show up when i highlight the shortcut icon i put at the bottom of my desktop in WinXP.?? help
