I found it (version 1.30) -- it is a SONY OEM firmware which turns your pioneer into a sony .. and you would have to use a patched pioneer unversal firmware to turn it back ..

you have to use the supplied UPGDVD.EXE that comes with this version not the pioneer version of UPGDVD.EXE

IF you have ANY OEM drive that is a pioneer a03/103 ao4/104 and you want to turn it into a pioneer (ussually a good thing) flash it with this firmware (version 1.2 rpc-1) http://pioneerdvd.firmware-flash.com/a04x120.exe

which also is region free by the way ...

if you want to turn your pioneer 104 into region free use the above 1.2
if you want to turn your 103 into region free use the firmware i posted in another thread ..

  6. So, did I mess up by flashing to this firmware revision? The drive still works fine for me and still reports as being a Pioneer DVR-104 in device manager.

Can you link me to the patched firmware that allows me to flash it back. I tried using the firmware from the Pioneer site, but like you said, it doesn't allow me to flash it back. I tried downloading from the link you have here but it seems as if it will not decompress all of the files. Do you have another location for the files?

    Thanks.
