  2. Some brands are better, I like verbatim and tdk. Stay away from PNY, they really suck hard.

  3. Not all are equal, some brands, CD writer can regconize blank CD as soon as it loaded in but some can't. Some on layer top (on top with logo or brand) are made not quite good so they pill off so easily (which is not good). this is all about quality of production. Then you have to concern about complatible with your player. Some players don't like specific brands but some don't mind at all.

So which brand is good is up to you and your player. There are not so many factories who actuall produce CDR. all the brands you see on the market some make from the same factory. So when we talk about quality of CDR we usually go by factory and technology of production.

Verbatim is good but have to be only Datalife Plus with AZO blue technology ( you can see its layer very drak in blue)

    2 main factories are
    1. Taiyo Yuden Co. with Long Stretegy Type (Cyanine layer), This factory make very good CDR and reliable and have less problems compare to others, such as FUJI (I use this brand all the time), Memorex (with tob black plastic), TDK with Certificate sign.

    2. CMC Magnatic Corp with Short Stretegy Type. This factory provide cdr to alot of brand and they are among cheap one, quality not quite good, such as Memorex, TDK, Imation, Philips, AT&T, PNY(very poor about top layer), etc.

    Other
Misubishi with factory for Verbatim, Sony Crop for sony (same tech with Taiyo yuden), Princo, etc...
