  1. Hi folks,

I created a SVCD a while back and deleted the source AVI files. Well... I now need to re-encode the movie with a different bitrate. TMPGEnc yells at me when I try to open the files in the MPEG2 directory of the SVCD. I can play the files in pwerdvd, or windvd though. I tried to demultiplex the sequences with tmpgenc and multiplex them again and that seemed to work for 3 out 5 sequences, TMPGEnc saying something like 'wrong header' for the other 2. I need all sequences though.

I am thinking of a utility or a way to remove the headers added by nero (that I used to burn the afformentioned SVCD).

    thanks

i think the utility you need is called vcdgear, which allows conversion from/to various formats, including DAT to MPG, stripping out the headers you mentioned.

Instead of remultiplexing, why not try to load the demuxed m2v and mp2 files in TMPGEnc? If that doesn't work, don't despair. It sounds as if your DirectShow filter isn't set at a high enough priority in TMPGEnc's Environmental Settings VFAPI plug-ins. Tinker with that, also.

  4. I tried reencoding using the m2v and mp2 files from the demultiplexing but that procuded the same results. I'll tinker with that VFAPI thingy.
