Hi Guys, first off, i just wanted to say hello ....
secondly, i have a question, what can be done about MPEG artifacts ?? i have some clips that are 320*240 and i wanna put them on a CD, but they are a bit blocky .. is there anything that can be done to tidy them up ??
also can anyone recommend some good software to edit the AUDIO that is encoded onto MPEG clips ?? i wanna create a VCD but not all the clips have the same volume of audio. some are really loud, some really quiet
thanx in advance

If the blocks are bad there is not a lot you can do.
Within TMPGEnc click setting > Advanced
From there you can try several filters
Click Setting > Audio > use audio edit
You can increase the gain while encoding -
For you first question.
320x240 is not a std format for VCD, and if you use default template which is 352x240 or 352x288, mean you enlarge the resolution size. So to keep it in original size (320x240 with black bar) you need to set in TMPGEnc, source aspect ratio to 1:1 and video arrange method to CENTER. But this won't help much becuz you re-encode. One thing you might try is to bump up bitrate (encode to XVCD) if your player can handle XVCD.
Second
Do you mean a lot of movie clips from different source or just one whole big file?
I downloaded a lot of music video from different website and I got into that problem as well (some music video are lounder than other one or sometime too lound, too quiet). To solve the problem, if the sounds are not too much different I would use TMPGEnc to re-encode only audio again with change volume setting (re-encode mp2 file). But if too much different I demux sounds and pictures, then use any wave editor to adjust sounds to be in same level with others one (Sound forge is good, Nero wave editor can do that too). Hope this help
