I hope I'm asking this question in a right forum...
So what I want to do is to rip DVD as easily as it is possible. I have been using EasyDivx (easydivx.does.it) and it was really easy to use. But now it doesn't work anymore. I think I have screwed something on my PC. It makes the rip (at least it says so) but no ready .AVI -file is been made. There are just messed up files in the folder. I don't understand...
I've now tried on uninstall and re-install the program many times and always the same results. I'm losing my nerves.
Now I'm trying to find an alternative way to make DivX-AVI. But which software should I use. I want FREEWARE-software, like EasydivX...
Please help me!

I'm trying to make a DivX (or an AVI-file as it comes
) and NOT Video CD.
I have found many guides, but they all require software one has to buy. EasyDivX is totally free and it was great until now...
So any guides to rip a DVD to DivX as easily as possible with FREE software...
Thanks for your help! -
Hi
You need to find what you like to use, download and test them all
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/all_downloads.html#ripping
Most of them are FREE !!
Try out "DvdX" very easy to use, and makes DivX files with ease, and its FREE
http://www.pctip.ch/library/downloads/dl.asp?id=3590
TMPGEnc will also convert VOB files to DivXUse smartripper to rip, then TMPGEnc to convert each VOB, Ddub to join ?, so many programs out there, everyone will give you what they think is the best...

Thank you, I'll try that DvdX!
Hasn't anybody else tried EasyDivX? It's so easy! Insert DVD, press GO! and it makes a perfect DivX-file without any hassle.
Well, it made until now... It works on other PC's, so the problem lies on my computer. Maybe I should just re-install Win 2k from scratch... -
Oh dear, I'm getting desperate.
I tried DvdX and it doesn't work. It doesn't save the AVI-file until I quit the program!! Everything goes OK until that. It says it has completed the file. But the file is 0kb big. So it's totally empty. Until I quit the program, then it's as big as it should be. But it doesn't work. Not one player will play it.
D'oh, maybe I should just burn my pc... -
Is the program EasyDivx? Is it supposed to rip a DVD to a Divx file on your hard drive?

Again, read the guides at http://www.doom9.org
Almost all guides on S/VCD production are relevent for DivX except for the MPEG encoding parts.
