  1. Hi, i have been able to make a few VCD's with some films which i have downloaded. But recently i can view the film perfectly in my DivX player, but would prefer to watch this on VCD on a big Telly. So i have tried to use AVI2VCD software and get an error message saying that cannot do this because the sound is compressed. I have tried doing this in TPMGEnc but this takes forever or doesn't do it. Does anyone know any way of resolving this problem by using different software?

Let me know as my HD is nearly Full and need to clear it down

    Cheers

I thought the AVI2VCD manual states that the audio must not be compressed in the AVI, which it almost always is. To work around this limitation, there's a utility (bundled with AVI2VCD at least when I dl'ed it) that converts AVI with compressed audio to AVI with uncompressed audio, that AVI2VCD then can digest.
But seriously - Use TMPGEnc! With the right codecs installed, it will take almost any AVI trown at it!

I have tried thatextra part of AVI2VCD and this doesn't work either.

Whats the best TMPGEnc version to use then, i bloody hate having to keep downloading all these missing codecs.

I will have another go with TMPGEnc tonight and see if it helps me out then

    Cheers for your help

OK, first dl and install the Nimo Codec Pack found under Tools/Codecs.
Then dl and install latest (free) TMPGEnc (also found under Tools)
Start TMPGEnc and choose the VCD (PAL/NTSC as to your preferences) template and follow the guide.
