Love having found this forum and have been backing up movies for 2 months now with few problems. However, I came across a situation after watching a 3 disc movie that has me stumped.
Ok, I've been backing up DVDs to XVCD. My toshiba seemed to be working great. Then last night, towards the end of a movie, the picture would skip a bit and the sound started getting weird (quiet, chirping, etc). Here's the kicker: the ends of the first discs of multi-disc movies are fine. Its only the last few minutes of the last disc of a movie that act up.
Thinking I may have screwed up in the ripping process, I tried the discs in my PC and both movies I have been having trouble with played fine. So after about 30 minutes of thinking about it, I put the discs back in my Toshiba, forwarded to the scenes in question and it worked fine.
Then after watching for about thirty minutes, the scenes started skipping and freezing again!
Is my DVD player getting "tired" after playing XVCDs for a couple of hours?
Anyone ever heard of anything like this? Does it sound like hardware, software, what?
Any help is greatly appreciated
