Is is it best to leave it at default or play with the settings (color, contrast, brightness, tint)? It seems better if the settings are more bright than dark b/c the pixels are more evident. My captures have varied. I sometimes have to blow the picture up on the monitor in order to change the settings b/c it's hard to tell in a little 3 inch box.

I'll be happy to give you those if you can tell me, PRECISELY, EXACTLY how much ketchup you like on your french fries, and then GUARANTEE that I will like that amount, as well.
Variations in PC display, TV, source, many others, and personal preference make your question impossible to answer. A generic answer would be to either leave at default or kick the color up slightly, then test on your chosen viewing equipment, adjust to taste - kinda like the ketchup.
