Need help with MediaStudio 6.5

I'm looking for hints from someone who captures from hi-8 or VHS, edits with MediaStudio 6.5, and then outputs to VHS.

In particular, I'm trying to figure out the best capture format/resolution to use with VirtualDub, and the appropriate project settings within MediaStudio. The goal is to have as little re-encoding as possible.

So far, I've used VirtualDub to capture 352x480 avi with mjpeg and the quality is very good.

So the 2 questions are:
1. What project settings do you use in MediaStudio?
2. Is it possible to save the VirtualDub capture settings?
