I have been reading the discussion about dipping DVD with Subtitle. I know I can do it with DVDx and I don'tlike the quality of the video. I saw the discussion by Condor and theDruid (between May 2002 thru August 2002) about making d2v project, then using VFAVI to make a fake AVI. Then open in Vdub and then frameserve into an encoder such as TMPG. I got to the step of making a fake AVI, but I can't open the fake AVI in Vdub. It says that 'VirtualDub rquires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable'. Can someone tell me what should I do from here on. Thanks.

Why don't you use DVD2SVCD. It's all in one (ripping/encoding etc.). And the quality of the movie is great.

I have just installed it and I'll give it a try. But it looks like everything has been preset to SVCD format. I only want to make VCD from it. Is it going to work.

I did it ! I did it with the DVD2AVI/VFAPI/VDUB/TMPG. This gives me a super video (to my standard) and it's a lot lot faster than the DVD2SVCD. Besides, DVD2SVCD has everything preset and leave no room for changes.
