  1. This sucks. All of a sudden, certain DivX files will freeze on the first frame of video, but the audio will continue on. The only player that works properly is the DivX player itself, but it doesn't display on my TV ouput properly, same for WinDVD so I can't use these. Any other player, such as the Ati file player or windows media player exhibit the problem. I have reinstalled the DivX codec (DivX 5 Pro) and have even had to reinstall windows since the problem popped up, but it remains. My video drivers, DirectX version, sound driver version, and player versions have not changed at all since before the problem began ... I'm stumped. Let me know if any of you have this problem yourselves and if you have found a solution.

I was hoping (if you don't know the solution itself) somebody could explain how the DivX player and WinDVD decode differently than other players such as the Ati File Player or Windows media player, then maybe extrapolate the answer from this information.

As always, thanks in advance for any input

Nimo includes a patch for freeze frame, maybe it will help ?

However it may be worth loading it into Vdub to check for junk frames, once at the start may cause a big problem.
