I downloaded Cinema Craft Encoder SP v.2.5 and when i opened it, it was surprisingly very plain looking?? Im not sure if it's supposed to look like this or not? Or maybe im just used to TMPG?

This is my first time ever seeing CCE so bare with me here. When i opened it, all it was, was a little grey box. My options were file, options, template and help at the top. At the botom it says encode and exit? Is this everything to this encoder/decoder program?
I figured there would be more to it, since people rave about it so much>?

I even tried loading up a movie that i had downloaded from the internet and it wouldn't even read it. I mean this is what i do with TMPG, so what am i missing here with using CCE?

  2. You are not missing too much, just two little things called QUALITY and SPEED :P

  3. Yes, CCE is very simple on the outside, but very powerful and fast once you get a movie setup to encode. All the options that you are looking for don't become available until you load a movie. Then you can right-click on the movie and get to the good stuff.

What format was the movie you tried loading into CCE? It only accepts .avi, .mov, and .dv (or .avs which are scripts for frame-served .avi's).

So, how would you use it to convert an mpeg, such as a dvd rip? Do the people that use it convert the mpeg to an avi, and then back to mpeg, or is there a way to frameserve around the issue? and with what?

You frameserve with avisynth, thats what the avs files are. You need to follow a guide, you can't just pick CCE up and start using it.
