    I was wondering if it was possible to output the captured video in Non-Interlaced Video? As far I know, I always get a Interlaced AVI when I capture anything with VirtalDub...

  2. Try:
    Filter --> Add --> DeInterlace
    Select top setting for best result in this one.

    Cropping and lot's of other filters can be added also.

    Great. Thanks!

    BTW, will adding this filter result up in using more CPU Usage? If so, a lot or a little more?

  4. as far as i know the de-interlace is just an "interpretation-filter" such as smooth. It updates all frames and that's it. CPU usage should be the same. Just give it a go by testing.
    Look for a freeware CPU-usage program.

  5. dont forget to enable filters prior to commencing. Really no need for a freeware cpu program when vdub tells you your cpu usage. btw deinterlace does use put some demand on cpu depending on what res you are capturing and of course what compression agent you are using.

  6. If CPU Usage is a problem, capture without any filters, and afterwards in the main-menu of VirtualDub apply those filters.

    This might be a silly question, but how do you ENABLE the filters? I know how to add them just fine... but the output still looked Interlaced...

  8. Maybe you have the order wrong.

    1 - Open video file.. (import an AVI)
    2 - Video -> Filters -> Add -> select (optional prefs) -> OK
    3 - Save as AVI..

    Tip: --> Select:
    Options --> Display input video (F9) & Display output video (F10)

    Should work !

    Tip 2 -> Settings you want to use often can be saved with:
    File --> Save processing settings.. (CTRL+S)

    Oh. I thought you said I can apply the DeInterlace Filter DURING the Capture of the video. =|

    It's okay. This way would work as well (just more time consuming).

  10. Keep in mind that a lot of capture cards will deinterlace automatically if the resolution height is 240 or less (i.e. video at 252x240 and smaller shouldn't need to be deinterlaced). A good example of this is that the ATI MMC won't enable the deinterlace on capture option util you go up to 480x480 or above.

    Thanks for the tip, but I'm capturing @ 720x480. =|

    Yes,
    just go to the Filter menu in the Capture-enviroment.
    Then Add what you want.

    I Added the Filter (DeInterlace) in the Filters Options while in the Capture Environment. That still doesn't work. =|

  14. Does it give any messages?
    Does it work in the "normal" environment when importing an AVI?
    Which card?
    Does it capture which hardware-compression (like MJPEG)?

    I can De-Interlace when it's in Normal Mode (i.e. NOT Capture Mode). But the Filter won't work realtime Capture Mode caps... =|

    Fill in these questions, so any another with your card and settings can also have a look.

    Another question, which codec?

    To answer to questions.
    - It doesn't give any (error) messages.
    - The filters DOES work in the normal environment.
    - TV Card = Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro
    - I believe the card doesn't have built-in hardware compression.

    In other good news, I got the filters to work. I just used an external filter I downloaded called Smart DeInterlace instead of VirtualDub's built-in DeInterlace Filter. I managed to get it work (by Enabling RGB Filtering; which I did the same for plain VirtualDub's built-in DeInterlace Filter, and still didn't work then). The unfortunate bad news is the by enabling this Smart DeInterlace Filter, I drop 30+ frames every 10 seconds. =( I guess RGB Filtering sucks out all the CPU Usage!

    It's okay though, I will just capture the video Interlaced, and DeInterlace it with TMPGEnc while encoding (or VirtualDub). Just need to spend a few more minutes for the same result, minus the frames drops. =)
