Problem with Pinnacle Studio

everytime i open a normal mpg in Pinnacle Studio 8, windows is giving me this error:

this is in the Dutch language
it means something like "STUDIO has a not valid instruction on the module" or something like that

i figure there is something wrong with the codecs he's trying to use?
anyone?
i had this problem in a similar way in the past, but mpg's is just playing normal with other programs

help me out please

Have you uninstalled and reinstalled?

Have you tried loading new codecs?

If it is a codec problem, installing (or reinstalling) a DVD player app might reinstall the codecs.
