DV to VCD and vice versa

Hello Forum,

I am quite new to VCD conversions. I have a Sony TRV20 DV camcorder connected to my PC via firewire. I would like to archive my DV tapes onto VCD (maybe with a menu/chapters). I would also like to be able to convert these VCD's to AVI or MPEG so that I can do some video editing at a later date.

What software tool is recommended to do the DV to VCD conversion (that hopefully maintains the quality and integrity of the video and audio) ?

What software tool is recommended to do the VCD to AVI/MPEG conversion (same quality concerns)

My PC is a Pent III, 500 Mhz, 10G HD w/ 160G external firewire drive, 256 MB RAM. I am running Win98SE.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this topic.

try Pinnacle express and Pinnacle Studio, they are great for the kind of job you want to do.
