I have a firewire HD and a firewire DVD-R(W). All of my media is on the HD and I have only one firewire port. My question is would it be okay to get a firewire hub and connect both drives to, then burn a DVD. Would there be a problem with bandwith, or any problems? Thank you for your time.

do you have a fiber HD or a firewire HD ? because most firewire HD come in a case with both a in and a out port and you just chain them together .. or same the with the dvd-r drive ..
you shouldnt need a hub .. even the firewire cards ussualy have two ports anyway ...
if you have a fiber drive .. thats a different kettle of fish .. -
The setup is on a laptop, so there is only one 1394 port. That is why I was thinking of using a hub. The thing is, I was wondering if there would be a problem transferring data to the DVD-R drive because they share the same port? Would there be a problem daisy-chaining in a performance stand point?

no -- no performance problems at all daisy chaining firewire -- in fact it works great to at least 6 devices i've tried it on .. 2 of my external raid setups and my dvd burner and one of the cd burners are all on the same loop and on the other channel i swap hard drives - often several at a time and never a problem
