Some DVD-Roms have trouble syncing up to DVD+RW. See if it can play a dual layered DVD such as the second half of Lord of the Rings. DVD+RWs appear (ive been told) to a dvd player as a dual layered dvd with all the data on the second layer. If the firmware in the dvd player isnt written to look for the menus on the second layer if it cannot find them on the first layer, then it will report "no disc" or not read it. Will this drive read a DVD+R? If it will, you might have to use the compatability program (available on HPs web site) to convert the header on the DVD+RW to mode 2.
