  1. Can it play DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, or DVD+RWs?

Yes. I recently had one of these and it played everything. Unfortunately, the quality of VCD play is no less than terrible, but a small price to pay. What am I saying? I sold mine for 60 bucks and bought a Pioneer dv 434 - the player of champions... I own two of them actually...

I believe that GE is just the name put on the DVD player, but the DVD player is actually made by SHINCO, who also makes APEX.

I have had the GE for a while now. I have yet to make a disc that could not be read. On CD-r(w) I have made VCD,xVCD,SVCD,xSVCD and on DVD+R(W) made with SpruceUp and Nero or IfoEdit and Nero.

For the price, its a wonderful player. Now if they would only put a POWER button on the remote.

  4. Also, when I go into setup, there is option were you can select from NTSC, PAL, or Auto. Does this mean It can play a disc from any Region?

From the factory it's region-locked, but you can download replacement firmware that's supposed to make it region-free and let you disable macrovision.

There are a few user groups out on yahoo groups that are specific for that player. Just go to www.yahoo.com/groups and search for 1101p.
