  1. Whenever I capture analog video from my Sony Hi8 Handycam into mpeg2 I have a strange problem. After capturing the file, I go to the folder it was saved in. If I have (view tiles) in folder options checked, the window closes down and I get the Microsoft error reporting message.

I noticed when I switched to (view icons) in folder options, it wouldn't close unless I single or right clicked on the icon. When it shuts down, it clears the icons from my desktop and refreshes them.

This has occured when capturing in WINDVR and POWERVCRII, as well as others. I have every possible codec downloaded including Nimo.

Please help, this is extremely annoying!

  2. Doesn't sound like a codec issue. More like a problem with your OS. Try to pick up some other MPEGs or AVIs from the internet and see if you can view those within a folder. If you still end up crashing, I would recommend a re-format & re-install, UNLESS you have an idea of what might be causing the issue.

I seriously doubt its a codec issue. Usually, your media player will inform you that the file is unrecognized (or it won't play correctly), but it won't crash anything.

  3. I don't have a problem with any other file types, as a matter of fact, It doesn't happen with other mpeg2 files other than ones I capture.

On the codec issue, the only reason I brought this up is because whenever I try to play a mpeg2 in WMP, it first looks like its searching for a codec and then it looks like it fails, then it plays, I know that sounds crazy, but that's what it does, any ideas???
