  1. Hello,
I have been looking for a way to convert an AVI file to fit onto a single VCD. The one article I found explains how to do it with a DVDRIP but is there a way to just take a single .AVI file and convert it to fit onto a single disc? The article I found talks about having 2 files necessary to use TMPGENC ( It talks about a D2V and WAV file). I have NERO for burning and TMPGENC for encoding. The MPEG files I create are obviously too large and when I step through the procedure found on this site the encoding doesn't work. So the question is if I just have an AVI file and those tools is there a way to butr a single VCD disc? Or is there a way to generate the D@V and WAV files with just the single AVI file only ( if so I would love to know how or what additional software I would need). Any help would be greatly appreciated. The guide I tried to follow can be found on this site with this link so if you know of another way or what I am missing then please let me know...Thanks much in advance. http://forum.vcdhelp.com/userguides/84759.php

You have to know what guide is suit for you, in this case you convert from one format to another format you should look for convert section. After read the guide I suggest you serch more in the forum about conversion to see other experiences. I think after you read for a few hours you will do everything by yourself just fine.

Come back if you have any questions.

You can use TMPGEnc to convert to mpeg 1. However when you use a VCD template the output will be fully compliant. When made fully compliant, you may see the file will not fit on 1 CD, so most people change many settings to get it to fit. These are no longer called VCD's

XVCD, may or may not play on your DVD player, the quality will not be as good as if you had used 2 CD's.
