  1. I have made lots of successful VCD, XVCD and SVCDs. They all play nicely on my DVD player (Pioneer DV-333).
Last couple days, I made some more XVCD for my home movies and strange enough, I ran into a number of problems that I have never seen before:

    1) either the DVD recognize the disc as CD (only), so only the audio is heard, the screen is just blank

    2) Nero failed at near the end of my 20min video clip and the disc plays in the DVD player until near the end then every cut off from there.

(My DVD rips still work fine).

Nothing changes in my system setup (Win2K, Studio DV, Tmpgenc 12F, Nero 5.5).

It's very frustrating. Can someone help please.

  2. Sounds like a ram optimization problem has developed.
Go to tweakfiles.com and try Mpower, and/or RAM Idle.
Using ATI's Radeon ALL-IN-Wonder it's the most effective way to prevent Frame-Loss, and editing being Out-Of-Sync.

  3. I am still not quite clear about the answer.

I forgot to mention that the MPEG file plays very well on the computer with WMP. When burned as VCD then the DVD player only plays audio, no video.

I capture via Firewire so I never had frame loss or out-of-sync audio/video.

Vidbox, do you mean I have to goto http://www.tweakfiles.com to get Mpower software to run on my PC to prevent these kinds of problems?

  4. Yep, sounds like for some reason your Windows is tieing up ram when video processing. - "Try it first", then tell me if (you see a difference/thing return to normal).
