  1. I used VCDGear to convert a VCD DAT. format into a mpeg format.But it is too large for my hardisk.What format can I convert it into and how to make it smaller???

    I guess your not making a new VCD then, and don’t want to keep it at mpeg 1. Load the .dat file direct into Vdub, you don’t need to use VcdGear.

    Once loaded select

    Video > full processing mode
    Video > compression > DivX 3.11 Alpha (Low motion) > bitrate 400?

    Audio > Full processing mode
    Audio > compression > codec (DivX or MP3) 40Kb > 16 bit stereo (try others, depending or source)

    SAVE AVI

    You now have a DivX AVI movie at the fraction of the size, and if the input quality is good, then the output will also be good.

    If you just want another copy of the VCD, do a disk to disk copy or load .dat into any VCD authoring program
