What bit rate to use

I download dvdx to encode my mpegs and i was wondering what video and audio bit rate i should use.

If I were you, I would read some more of VCD/SVCD info which can find just right here on the left side. Then I would decided which format I want and complatible with my dvd player. I would stick with standard setting as much as possible with very first movie I encoded(which can find all setting in here also). Then the more I get comfortable with encoding I would check out some XVCD/XSVCD becuz they are better quality but less complatible.

In favor of convertinn from divx to mpeg I would read more of convert guide which located here also.
