  1. Can you give me your opinion on this player (especially how it operates after it has been made region free)? I'm thinking about buying one, and I was wondering what the quality is like after the signal is converted from Pal to NTSC?

And anything else of interest that you can tell me about your experience with this player would be appreciated. Thanks!

To quote myself on a previous post I made on this player, it's played everything I've thrown at it. As for PAL vs. NTSC disc's I can't tell the difference on playback. The only negative comment I’ve got on this player is that when playing the DVD Black Hawk Down the subtitles kept switching on even after turning them off. I came across another review of this player in this forum mentioning having the same issue with this particular DVD, but have yet to run into this on any another disc I've played. As for making it region free I haven't attempted it and am not inclined to do so I can't comment on that. Overall my experience with this player has been a pleasant one.

  3. I have had it for a few days now. It was the only one at the store that would play SVCD which is what I wanted. It also plays XSVCD and XVCD and all the other regular formats. It has no problem reading from any media so far.

I don't have any movies with problems. The 2 seem to be Black Hawk Down and Charlies Angels. So I would assume that is something that those movies did that is messing it up for sub titles.
Not only am I perfect but I'm Canadian too!

  4. Thanks for the info, guys. Nice to know the conversion from NTSC to PAL seems to go smoothly, Kayfam.

Anybody notice any shimmer effects or pixelation when playing back PAL discs on an NTSC tv with this player?
