  1. I need to make a homegrown DVD for a private party. Basically, I need to be able to copy snippets of video from various DVDs, organize them using a video editor, and rip a custom DVD.

Question is... is there software that can do this for me given the copyright issues involved?

I don't have any intention of selling this video. It's only for personal use at the party.

Do any of you have any suggestions/advice on what I need to accomplish this task (as cheaply as possible)? Obviously I need a DVD RW drive, but I'm not sure what various software components I need to capture video from existing DVDs, edit/combine/splice the pieces, and encode the final video.

If I am simply not able to do this due to legal issues, please just let me know.

    Thanks.

    Minerva

    Thanks.

  2. Start with those "how to" links on the left side of this site, lots of info there.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
