Ok i converted my avi to mpeg using normal pal resolution and upped the bitrate to make it an xvcd. The final file was over two gigs and there was one hour of blank movie at the end of the film. When i cut it in tmpeg at one hour the file shows up as being under 800 megs but in nero it shows up as 90 min of film even though the play time is only one hour? Can anyone help i would like to split this in half and put it on two 80 min cds

The time on Nero is not an indication of the actual running time of the movie. Since Nero doesn't officially support XVCD it's using standard VCD bitrate to calculate the running time. You won't be able to fit 2G worth of movie in two 700MB CD's. The size of the file on your hard drive is a pretty good indication of how many CD it would take. I generally try to leave about 20MB for VCD formating and other stuff. When in doubt burn it on CDRW if you can and test it out before putting them in CDR.
