I'm trying to put subtitles onto my .avi file. Everything's okay until I'm trying to load the .vdr file as audio source in tpmgenc. I get an error message which says
"file.vdr can not open or unsupported"
When I try to open any file as an audio source (i.e. avi's or wav's) I get the same message.
The vdr file is fine as a video source.
What shall I do?
Thanks in advance

Yes. A couple of weeks ago, when I didn't have the Nimo Codecs installed it worked fine (I did a little 20 min file using the same avi). Two days ago, I installed the NimoLite Package and since now I have this problem.
Thanks,

Well, I didn't actually make the avi file. I just made the subtitles.
As far as I know the avi is a DVD-Rip, DivX 4.12, 2-pass and 128 kbs.
In the meantime I re-installed all my codecs and the new version of Tmpgenc. Same problem.

Skip trying to frameserve. Just save the .wav file, then save the avi file using your codec. Launch TMPGEnc. Load the avi file as input video and saved .wav file as input audio. Let us know what happens.
Hello. -
I just managed to open a the avi file as audio source and the vdr as video source. But the results were pretty disappointing. The subtitles weren't very sharp at all.

The avi file? I was using the avi, onto which I was trying to put the subtitles. But like I said, the quality wasn't very good.
I have just ripped the sound of the avi (as you suggested) and used it as audio source. I was barely able to read the subs. It seems, that I can open any file as an audio source, but a vdr file.

Is the video quality bad, or just the subtitles?
Hello. -
Firstly I'll answer your question: just the subtitles!
Second: Hurray, I've done it!
Silly me! When I first tested subtitling a few weeks ago, I worked with an mpg. But I didn't remember until now.
I have just opened my avi (which is now an mpg) in VirtualDub, added Filters, started Frameserving to Tmpgenc, et voila it's working now. Quality of mpg and subtitles are good.
Thank you very much though for your help. I appreciate it.
Thanks,
gp
