  1. I have a strange problem. I try to burn a CD with my new HP 200i and I get an error message from Nero saying "media unwritable" as if the CD was not blank! I tried several different types/brands of CD's but all the same message! When I use the HP software that came with the drive it works! I have the 200i mounted in an external case with USB connection, trying to write at just 4x for starters. HP laptop N5450 PIII 850 Mhz, 20g internal HD, 30G external FW HD. 512 RAM running Win XP Pro.

Does anyone have ANY idea of why this would be happening with just the Nerosofware not recognizing the blank media inserted? The drive will play DVD's and CD's fine. It does recognize the media is insterted but just says "media unwriteable! Thanks in advance!!

  2. Nero and HP writers do not get along well.
I don't know exactly why, but just try another burnig software (eg. Easy CD Creator).

    Alejandro.
